Pre-Region Results

The course of our lives is seldom determined by great, life-altering decisions. Our direction is often set by the small, day-to-day choices that chart the track on which we run. This is the substance of our lives—making choices. Gordon B. Hinckley

Thanks for your effort. People who do things with all their heart are the funnest people to watch and be around. GOOD JOB!

Note: 1) Look how important the 6th and 7th guys were in this race. 2) If every guy moved up only 3 seconds we would have beat Bingham by about 8 points. Just go to show how important it is giving a little more. This means in races and practice alike. Doing something extra here and something extra there. Being a little more mentally tough during the race. These little decisions can make a BIG difference. 3) Excluding AF's first runner our pack isn't far away.Next step pushing that pack up a little closer to AF''s pack. Let's chip away at them through the season. Guys you are looking sharp. You closed that last mile faster then any other team. Your hard work is showing and will show a lot more as the season progresses. Way to go today i am proud of you.

Highland Invite

Stick to your task till it sticks to you;
Beginners are many, but enders are few.
Honour, power, place, and praise
Will come, in time, to the one who stays.

Stick to your task till it stick to you;
Bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it too;
For out of the bend and the sweat and the smile
Will come life's victories, after awhile.

Girls great start to the season. I loved seeing so many personal best. Improvment only comes to those who put in the effort that is required. I was very impressed with your determination are hard work in the race. Many girls were put into new positions. Some were hurt, most it was your first race, some the first time called to represent at the varsity level. Thanks for you EFFORT. Great people are those people who keep pushing even when it is hard. Keep it up, have fun and this year will be rewarding.

Guys wow! Nice job!  First of let's give a shout out to our freshman and Sophmores. Congrats on finishing so well as a team. Tyson good job at putting yourself in a position to win the race. Congrats Jonathan for being in the top 20. JV I was very impressed with your good performances. It is just the start of the year and a lot of you guys are hitting personal bests or around them. You should expect much more improvements to come when we start doing race specific workouts.

Varsity boys congrats on taking 2nd place over all and beating some very good team. You guys are a perfect example of what hard work can do. No one but us expected us to finish that well.  Now that we have ran well there is going to be a target on our backs. Bingham, Lone peak, American fork and Davis all looked really good this week. They are working hard and they all want what only one can have.  Let's keep working hard and doing the little things.

Season Begins

    Alright, Riverton XC it is that time. The first race of the season is this week! I am very excited. The team has worked hard this summer and it is going to show this year. Heads are going to be turned and we are going to be know as a distance power house.

    My brother Bracken and one of his best friends Jonah Tuatagaloa are some of the most stressful people I know. I have major respect for them. I talk to them all the time about how impressive you all are. They sent  some videos for you. Enjoys them, take notes and watch them more then once. After grab your running journals and look at your goals. Write down new ones and recommit to what you want out of running this year.

Video 1 - Successful people realize that the most precision commodity is time.

HOW ARE YOU USING YOUR TIME? ARE YOU DOING THE LITTLE THINGS?
Are you doing every workout? Are doing an extra interval or are you skipping one?
Are you skipping doing core?
Are you doing your strides?
Are you doing workouts when the coach isn't there to push you?
Are you giving your all in a race???
Are you icing?
Are you rolling out?

Confidence and mental toughness comes from working hard during the workouts and when others aren't watching. If you have done all that you need to do, then when you step up to the line, you will know that success is yours for the taking.

Video 2 - Effort is how you get noticed. The only thing that follows work is results.Greatness is a lot of small things done well: day after day, workout after workout and obedience after obedience.

Are you putting in the effort?
Do you know when you step to the line that you will work harder than anyone else?

You might not be the most talented but you know that you are the most willing to give it your all. That is why you are going to be successful. NO REGRETS! These people are the ones everyone lines up to see and watch. People like Miles Batty, Gallen Rupp, Michael Jordan, Mo Farrah,  They inspire us to be better because they give it there all on and off the field. If you want results and want to be great there is no other way but by hard work and effort.

Video 3: Success is very intentional and deliberate. Look up, get up and never give up. It aint about how hard you get hit. It is about how hard you get hit and keep moving forward.

Successful people do. There is no excusing. There is no complaining. There is no blaming others. they don't fear success they embrace it. They are always asking what can i do to better myself.

You guys are amazing and you inspire me. Let's have a great season with no regrets.

Thank You Riverton XC

I just wanted to say a final thank you for all that you have done for me over the years.  I have learned a great deal while coaching this team.  I have met some fantastic people, and expect great things from you all.  Keep working hard and listen to your coaches--they are awesome.  I will truly miss working with you and hope to see you at some of the meets.  Good luck and enjoy running together.  Wear the uniform with pride.  This is a special team and it will provide you with memories long after you have graduated from high school.  Keep in touch.

Sincerely,

Coach Christensen

Physicals Tomorrow

If you still need a physical for your eligibility packet, there is an opportunity to get one at the school tomorrow.  They charge $25 and will start at 5:00 PM.  Just as a reminder, the eligibility packets are due August 13th.  I still have some if you need one.
We won't have a practice together tomorrow, but make sure to get a run in on your own.  We will meet at the school on Friday at the normal time.
