Davis Invite

"That which we persist in doing becomes easier, not that the task itself has become easier, but that our ability to perform it has improved" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Good Job this week you guys! There were a lot of great things that came out of Davis Invitational. Our team has great character and I love to watch you guys run. I love to see how hard you work not only for your individual success but for that of the team as well. Remember that greatness and success doesn't always come every time you run. Every person no matter what they do has set backs or at times will not preform their best. Vince Lombardi defined greatness, success and persistence perfectly to me, he said: "It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up". Ask yourself, are you the type of person who stays down or gets back up?

Always get something out of your race. Ask yourself what did I do well? What could I have done better? How can I be better now than I was last week?

PR List: You guys are amazing, keep it up!

UVU INVITE RESULTS

The UVU invite went smoothly. It was well organized, the competition was good and the weather was perfect, which made it ideal for setting PR's. That is exactly what happened.

Girls: The girls team is on a roll:  They kept their unstoppable streak with every runner setting a personal best in every race that they ran. It is hard to single out one great performance from the girl's team because everyone ran great. In fact, they PR'd by a lot . Congrats girls team! Keep up the good work! Erin, Marci Taylor, Ali, Danielle and Kaitlyn, you Rock!!!!!!

Boys: The boys ran excellent this week. Jeremy, Kenneth, Isaac and Tyson all PR'd in the 3200.  Isaac,  Derick and Sam set PR's in the 800.

SAM IS BACK: Sam Garrard ran amazing this weekend setting personal best in the 800 and the 1600. After experiencing a problem with iron levels, Sam has made a hard come back. Sam ran a 2:10.40 in the sprint medley and 4:53 in the 1600.

"The Jet, The Jet, The Jet!!": Kenneth ran an amazing race this week taking second overall in the 3200. He had a goal, set a pace and a plan and he did not deviate from it. He took the lead in lap five and opened up a pretty good gap on the next guy. He finished just as fast as he started and barely got clipped out at the end.

Overall this was one of the greatest team performances I have ever seen!!

It is crunch time in our season. We know it is hard to get together during spring break and to run on your vacation. Successful people "DO" when other people won't. Be a doer. For our team to reach its potential this year and the years to come we all need to keep up our hard work.

The spring break schedule goes as follows:

Saturday - 6:15 Meet at the school if you are competing.

UHSTCA Outdoor Championship 2012

This weeks meet was in Taylorsville Utah. The Riverton team did great as a whole with the guys taking first overall and the girls taking third. The distance team is looking better and better every meet. There were a lot of PR's set this week even with the disadvantage due to weather(wind).

Some athletes that preformed especially well were: Danielle Gailey who set a personal best in the 800m By 3 seconds, Kenny" The Jet" Smith who ran right there with the big dog of the state and nation taking 6th overall and only 10 seconds behind the winner. He nearly ran as fast as last week but the wind was terrible, Kaitlyn and Erin are on a role and set PR's in the mile once again, Brady set a PR in the mile and Sam G and Jake set PR's in the mile for the second straight week.

Good job this week!!! Keep up the hard work. State Champions Riverton High. Leave no Doubt.
