CONGRATULATIONS! RIVERTON SILVERWOLVES FOR TAKING 2014 STATE.
What a great and fun meet. The things that we appropriate the most in life don't come easy. This State Championship, like all others, was years in the making. We have had the most dedicated, hardworking and motivated athletes of the last 4 years that lead to this moment. To be a champion nothing comes easy. But fate favors the prepared. Our team is doer not talkers they put in long hours, woke up early, sacrificed social activities in pursuit of excellence and never made excuse. There were a lot of little road blocks in the way but our kids pushed though it with great attitudes and maturity.

Davis Invite
This weeks meet was quite the interesting one. It was raining, cold and little bit windy at certain times. These are some of my favorite meets to attend because you really get to see how tough people are when things aren't perfect. The best athletes and people make the most of any situation. These athletes don't make excuses, they don't complain, they see situations like this as a learning and growing experience. Good job to all you athletes that worked hard, where mental prepared and had a good attitudes.

SEASONS COMING TO AN END
QUOTE # 1 - The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare. Juma Ikannga 1989 NYC Marathon winner
Quote # 2 - It is not what you do in practice that makes CHAMPIONS it is what you do the next 24 hours. Meb Keflezighi - 2014 Boston marathon winner
It has been a great season thus far. Both the boys and the girls have worked so hard and by doing so you have put yourself in the drivers seat to finish very high at state. It is crunch time. The next three weeks will determine if we are going to reach the pinnacle of achievement in our sport. We have within our grasp something that will never be forgotten and never be taken away.
We have no control of the other teams but we have 100% control over ourselves. Do the little things outside of practice to guarantee success today. Tip - 1) SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP 2) Limit Stress 3) Ice, roll-out, stretch 4) EAT RIGHT. If you do these things we will be champions. We control our destiny this year.
CLICK HERE FOR DAVIS INVITE ACCEPTANCE LIST. IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CAN'T GO PLEASE LET US NO ASAP.
Looking ahead BYU is next Friday May 2 and next Saturday May 3 - This is a limited participation event with only 50 TOTAL events available to Riverton for Both Boys and Girls combine - Please confirm your status regarding this event - Those that will be in competition will be posted Monday of next week!

Taylorsville click HERE
We sent a few athletes to Taylorsville and to the BYU Multi event meet. There were some good performances at both meets.
It is that time of the season where a lot of people are setting Personal Bests. Our fitness level is increasing and we are getting familiar to racing. This is the time of the season were you start breaking away from your limits.
Personal Best - From April 19 Weekend:
Every Distance runner ran a Person Record.
Kim Adair - Set a 15 Second PR in the mile to run around a 6:05
Weston Ford - 1500M [4:54.30]
Britney Whalin - Set a Pr in the 1600 by about 6 seconds
Ammon Baker, Courtand Rausch, Duncan Forrest, Braden Robbins all PR'd in the Mile
Craig Bluth had a huge PR in the 800 running a great 2:05
Andrew Dutton, Michael McLean, Derick Smith - all ran PR's in the 800
Kirsten Spencer PR High Jump 5' 0.75"
Weston Ford PR Long Jump 20' 10"
Braden Morrill PR High Jump 5' 10" [placing third in the meet]
Heptathlon - Kirsten Spencer - 3298
Decathlon - Weston Ford - 4862
Mr. Austin Gomez ran a blazing 300m Hurdles taking 7th place and PR by about 1 second.
Mitchell Wood PR'ED by over a foot in the Long Jump Jumping 19' 7" and took 4th overall in the meet. His PR was 18' 0" prior to this accomplishment - It was his first invitational he has been to. The meets went really good this week. I can't ever remember being part such a fun and successful meet as we had at UVU this weekend. The boys won the meet by about 60 points and the girls took second.
As a lot of you know the boys team went for the medley state record and just missed it by .4 of a second but as a consolation prize we broke the school record and qualified for state.
On the girls side we attempted the medley school record(Note the girls state record is ridiculous) they ran a 4:14 which broke it by 3 seconds and state qualified.
Yuri state qualified in the javelin!!
Michael, Clay and Brandon went 1,2,3 in the 400. Michael PR'd
Mckay state qualified in the 400 and took 7th overall !!!!
Weston ford won the high jump
Kene won the 300 hurdles
Kylee took 2nd in the 300 hurdles
Mckalya took 3rd in the mile
Bre won the 400m
Sydnie Rich took 2nd in the javelin
Charley took second in the Shot Put
I am pretty sure almost everyone had either a season best or an all time personal best. Check out the results!

The Davis super meet was a great success. We had some amazing performances by both the girls and guys showcasing how good our track team really is. Davis super meet is one of my favorite meet for multiple reasons 1) there is a only a few really good teams there(Davis, Riverton, Herriman, Bingham) 2) we get to bring our whole squad to a big meet. RIVERTON TRACK AND FIELD
Riverton Track and Field Team is looking great. We have one of the biggest teams that we have ever had in Riverton history. This is very exciting because it means that our team is going to be good for years to come. Since there are so many kids it is easy to get lost in the numbers. This means that all of you need to be very self motivated. Us as coaching staff will work our hardest to support you and aid you to become the best athletes that you can be but realize that because there are so many of you it might be a little hard to show the full attention that you deserve.

Inter-Squad Meet
Good Job everyone in the Inter-Squad Meet
Click HERE to see the result
One of the beauties of track and field is that what ever effort you put in you get out. When I first started track as a sophomore I ran a 200 time trial and it revealed that I was one of the slowest guys on the team. I wanted to be good and i was very competitive so I worked hard and by the next year I was the best distance runner in my little schools history.
Jim Ryan was the first high school runner to break the 4 minute mile. He got cut from multiple teams he tried out for. He decided to do Cross Country. He said he was one of the worst runners on his team but by the end of that Cross Country season he was one of the best his state.
Michael Jordan was cut from his sophomore basketball team. Walt Disney was told he didn't have any imagination.
The point is that to be successful in life and in track in field there are a few key component.
1. Attitude
2. Hard work
3. Consistency
4. Resilience - Not giving up
5. Belief in yourself.
Being GREAT doesn't come overnight and only comes to those that are willing to do what it takes.
We as coaches are very excited for this season. We see a lot of young talent and a lot of kids with great attitudes. Enjoy these moments, enjoy being part of a successful team, enjoy the relationship you will develop and enjoy the life long benefit this sport will bring.

Utah Distance Challenge and Boise Results

Risk Taker Award - This highlights the athletes that clearly had a plan and tried to execute it not worrying about dying off but testing their bodies limits. These early meets are great races to take risk. If you have small controllable goals each race and take risks it is impossible not to improve almost every race.
New Balance Boise Indoor - Jacksons Invite Click HERE
We had some great performances this week. The distance team race at the Utah Distance Challenge and Michael Bluth went up to a very competitive meet in Boise Idaho.
Michael Bluth had a seller meet winning the 400 and the 200 at Boise. This really goes to show how good Michael really is. It would of been great go up and watch him run.
The distance team attended their first meet. It was a great meet for us. Most of the distance runners set pretty good PR's. This is a really good sign because of how early it is in the season. The hard work that a lot of kids put in during Cross Country and the start of this year is already paying out dividends.
Competitor Award - One thing that is hard to learn is to be a competitor. Athletes with that winning mentality are the funnest to watch and typically have the biggest improvements over the years.
-Kim Adiar, Brooklyn Dutton, Rachel Rigby, Katie Chrisopherson, Levi Wolfley, Ashely, Tracen Warnick, Michael Mclean

BYU Invite
The BYU Invitational was this weekend. This was the biggest that I have ever seen this meet. There was a ton of schools and a ton of great competition. Our sprinters and jumpers were the only two groups to attend.
60m Dash: On the girls side Lexi Jackson made the finals in the 60m and finished 7/90 Girls and Kylee Finished 11th. On the boys side Michael Bluth finished 5/150 Runners.
200m: In the 200m dash our girls finish 6, 11, 15, 29 out of 90 runners. Our boys went 1,3, 12, 25, 26 out of 100 runners. Michael Bluth and Kylee Tirell leaded the charge for the silverwolves.
400M: The boys totally dominated this race with Michael Bluth winning the race with a very impressive time of 49.61. The boys team went 1st, 3rd, 4th, 8th and 11th. Showing just how good our 400 squad is at Riverton.
4*1 lap: Both our boys and girls represented well in the 4*322m race finishing first.
60M Hudles: Kenne Thronley also performed really well in the hurdles finishing 7th out of 34 runners.
BIG CONGRATS TO MICHAEL BLUTH FOR BEING ATHLETE OF THE MEET. His first place finish in the 400, 200, and 4*1 lap as well as his 5th place finish in the 60m earned him the honor of most outstanding athlete of the meet.
